GlaxoSmithKline or GSK for short is a pharmaceutical and biological company that is based in United Kingdom. It is a research company that covers the following fields in pharmaceutical industry:

- Gastro intestinal tract and metabolic medication

The company also manufactures health care products like: nutrition drinks, OTC medicine.
GSK as we know it now was formed by merging of GlaxoWellcome and SmithKline Beecham in 2000. The companies histories alone start in the 19 century when in 1830 John K. Smith opened his first Pharmacy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA. And in 1880 Burroughs Wellcome & Company was founded in London by American pharmacists Henry Welcome and Silas Burroughs. Nowadays the main office of GSK is in Brentford UK.
